Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good morning. We, too, are looking at a change in weather today. Looks like another opportunity for much needed precipitation.

The death count is up to 3 with the hatchery birds. I cleaned - I lost track - LOTS of pasty butts yesterday and this morning. The two I found dead did not have butt issues. Ideas? Postal trauma? Can they get so cold they just never recover, even if, initially, they're all acting fine?

I GOT SCAMMED!!!!
Long story so I won't bother with details except to stress that if you receive an email from what you think is a known source and looks 100% legit, it still may not be. All the security types I've talked with trying to clean up the mess since, agreed that these guys were the pros of the pros. I had no clue I was not actually dealing with the company I thought I was. I almost lost my entire savings but thankfully my lightbulb went off in time and I was able to reverse everything they did (and stole) in time. Now, since last night and most of today I've spent freezing accounts, notifying every agency involved with my identity and removing malware buried deep in my computer they worked hard to get so I know I must have really ticked them off when I was able to retrieve everything they stole, at least the funds anyway. It will take more time for my personal identity but I've got a good start at that as well. I was blessed to have contact with some great security people that were able to point me toward any holes I might have missed and show me how to plug them. The only real hole I can't plug completely is using the numbers off my driver's license but at least what I can do in our state is have a note attached to my license file that will require anyone that tries to use them to produce two more proofs of identity.
I am kicking myself for my arrogance at thinking I was too smart for it to ever happen to me. I'm taking only the slightest condolence from the different security techs that after listening to my story, in one accord agreed I had run into one of the best professional con groups out there. Whoopee, lucky me.

My husband got scammed but not like you did. It took a while for him to get everything cleared up.

You have my sympathy and understanding.

@chickisoup - what kind of scam was it, if you don't mind me asking? I've had my wallet stolen a couple of times and I hate, hate, hate, freezing everything, closing and reopening accounts etc. Ugh. I'm so sorry for all the trouble it caused you! :hugs
This is an email scam from h$%l. Looked totally, I mean totally legit. Zero red flags. From the Dish Network , a company I have had for years. Correct graphics everything, announcing a "new" app added to my Dish system. (Prime Video-later found out that app had been there for some time on a menu I almost never went to on my Dish) Anyway, there was a button to click on for more info and how to connect my Prime to the Dish app. The screens I saw looked all very legit, the phone number I was to call for verify my account, that's where it all went south. Too involved to bother explaining from here but lets just say it was done by a very sophisticated, professional, incredibly tech savvy organization.

I think the travel makes some studid... or some such...

Put all in a different box... and one by one back into brooder, showing each one, again.. water and feed.

Repeat twice, a few hours apart.

Make sure all are actually eating.

I always have three things on hand for shipped chicks. First is Nutridrench. It is designed for shipped and/or highly stressed chicks. (it's also great for adult birds stressed out from trauma, injury, any highly stressful incident or environment). Second is a packet of the same powder you mix with water that they usually put into box with the chicks when shipped. Third is double rolled oats (common instant oatmeal). A vet recommended that to me years ago. You mix it into their chick starter and you'll never have a problem with pasty butt. Don't know the science behind it, just know it works. Not a single pasty butt in chicks since I started using it. I would get hold of at least the Nutridrench right away and follow the directions on the box for new chicks. Good luck.
