Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Sooooo, I bought some BLRW hatching eggs.... He did say the parents are from cackle so I know they're not super quality but they sure are gorgeous.

Wait and see what you get will you sell most or keep them?
I know right 🤣 I'll probably keep a few more hens and maybe another roo if I get a decent one. I already have a pair but she's either broody or not laying :gig :rant:hit they will be four next month. I don't think I need 24 BLRWs running around so I'll probably sell off the lower quality ones anyhow. 😛 really I just got them cause I have a dang Australorp that went broody and my fertility is hit or miss since I have one roo and like 30 hens.

I cut back because I am down to one customer just now but surplus of eggs is huge
I'm seeing what I can reasonably do. I sell eggs to one of the health food stores here, it's funny to me, he was getting eggs out of PA and he'd have to order 15 doz at a time and 4-6 week later he would still have eggs but he can and does get 5 dozen from me every week and almost always sells out. Heck they're even selling better after I RAISED the price . And I've got a guy that goes down to Pensacola every week and he buys what ever I have so I'm trying to see if I can't up my production a little. Lotta grow outs this year 😅

@dan26552 nice looking parent stock. Good luck with the incubation.
Thanks! I saw a couple that weren't great but the majority of them were pretty nice and like I said I'll only be keeping the best ones that hatch. 1 doz will go under a broody and the other in a Bator. Never put all your eggs in the same basket, right?

I have a question for y'all. I was thinking this one was probably a roo had a fairly pink comb around 6 weeks, it's now about 9 weeks old and hasn't changed much. No wattles to show, just a pinkish comb. Quite a few of it's full siblings are obviously roos but they're only about 4-5 weeks old. What do you think the chances of this being a pullet are?
Bird in question.

Full sibling, half the age and obviously a roo.

Some fairly large wattles on this one and a few of the other siblings.
