Welcome to the Round Table

Reminds me (though not the same thing) of a social experiment. A guy faked having a unibrow and did a test seeing if people would engage in a conversation with him. When he turned his back, people laughed, pointed, and took photos. Acted like he was a monster and stuttered for words.

The reason this reminded me of it is because people are always rude to others about their dietary choices and mock them for it. It really shows how the food we consume or a little extra hair in between our eye brows causes such a significance for people because it’s not ”normal”

I don’t understand why the food choice of others is a problem. (Or where they choose to live, or what car they choose to drive, etc). I see no problem in advocating your choice, or explaining why you choose it if you so desire.
I don’t think it’s limited to food. People seem to care what others do. As long as it doesn’t threaten myself or family I’m OK with whatever.

Vegetarians can eat eggs (some will). I actually used to be vegan, but it was difficult for me to maintain and I had a lot of nutritional deficiencies. I think some people keep chickens to make sure the eggs they eat come from well-treated hens. I am super-selective about where I get meat. Found a few farms I will buy from to supplement my plant-based diet.
Yes I have found this all pretty interesting and enjoy following it. That’s how we grow as individuals. Right?

I think they are confused (and i am too) because you made a joke of how there are a lot of vegans on a site that eats chickens and eggs, but then put vegetarians in there. They were saying vegetarians do eat eggs which is why there is also a lot on here.

It seems to me that culturally it's difficult to not eat meat in the US, particularly outside of major cities. I've traveled in India and there is such a wide variety of tasty vegetable dishes that I didn't miss meat at every meal all that much. But then the beef there isn't great, and I didn't have to go to long without bacon. That being said, eating a ripe tomato straight off the vine from your own garden is a little slice of heaven.

I’m speaking in general about a large forum that contains people that all do different things. I would be willing to bet that a random nobody like me would sign into a forum for help on all things chickens and see the amount of people that are under dietary restrictions raising chickens. I think it’s cool and just not something I expected to run into on here.

American obsession with meat is due to the cultural fact that if you could eat meat more than once a week you were rich. People can't comprehend that even 60 years ago we didn't have meat with ever meal.

I live in Mississippi, when I say I don't eat pork or drink sweet tea I'm side eyeing a exit because you swear they gonna burn me at the stake

Honestly? A decade ago you wouldn't see this on BYC. It use to be far more Christian centric and self sufficient type people

I'm happy there more vegan/vegetarian options in town at fast food places because I know most of the local joints won't have any :idunno and any time I try to actually get something made kosher style half the time they get it wrong and I feel horrible returning the food.
