welded wire I've seen on rabbit cages

I have a couple of rolls of a wire that is probably 1/2 inch square openings, welded, and I've seen it used on rabbit cages. I used it inside my new coop to separate the birds from the feed room. Can this wire be strong enough to be buried outside the run to keep out predators? I would nail it securely to the bottom all the way around the coop as well as the outside run, dig a trench and bury it at least a foot underground, then turn it up, place shards of limestone rock on it, and fill in the trench. My coop sits low to the ground so this would keep vermin from going under the building. The wire does not rust, decay or break down even after five years or more of being out in the earth and weather. There is another stronger heavier gauge wire that is 1" x 1/2" that is fairly pricey, but it will rust. We've always called it rabbit wire. My biggest threats are red and grey foxes, weasels, coons, possums, feral cats, and maybe an occasional coyote as they are just starting to arrive in my area. What do y'all think of it for the use I mentioned - is it strong enough?

the wire you are mentioning will do very well for burying to keep predators from digging under. You really don't have to bury it. You can lay an apron about 2-3 ft and then cover with sod or rock or dirt, depending on the visuals of your coop. I have also seen where the floor of the coop is the wire with no apron. The wire flooring is then covered in Sand or small rocks.

Around here it's called hardware cloth. Hardware cloth will rust and break after several years especially where the galvinization gets scraped off. I have some 10 yr. old cages that need repaired, mostly where manure sat on it and where salt blocks were hanging in rabbit cages.
