My name is Mandy.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband and I started raising chickens 3 years ago and ducks last year.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I’ve lost count… around 80 or so.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Mostly game and banny.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them interact with each other and me.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crafting!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary this September. We were high school (for him)/middle school (for me) sweethearts. I was 13 and he was 16 when we met in the summer of 2000. We have one son together who is 13. We have 7 dogs, 6 cats, our chickens, 25 ducks, 2 guineas, 3 rabbits, and a bearded dragon who is the oldest pet. I’m a social worker and love my job but find my self care loving on our pets.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I’ve googled questions several times over the years and BYC shows up first about every time. I finally decided to join to get others impression on if we have Rouen or Mallad ducks.
