Thanks for the tip on where to get one. I ordered one tonight so I hope it gets here soon. One of my therms is being a jerk and not playing nice so I ended up putting a meat therm in through one of the vents and its reading right along with the other therm on top of the turner. So far no spikes and everything is been going well. I got it to sit at 99.5 for a little bit and now adjusted it up to 100-101 area give or take which therm your looking at.

If everyone keeps playing nice my eggs get to go in in the morning.

Here's a tip I had to learn myself: If you use one thermometer on top of the eggs and one between them at middle height, you'll get DRASTICALLY lower readings from the one in the middle till the eggs absorb a bunch of heat. So don't freak out and mess with your settings.

Seriously though, when the digital gets there calibrate it, insert, and get rid of the GD ones that came with the GD LG.

Here
is an example of analog hygrometer. Ya know, as long as they are adjustable, accurate and inexpensive (this is 4.98 with shipping). To adjust these you rotate the face plate, do a salt test, adjust, then test again.

Putting an old computer fan in your LG incubator will even out the tempatures, no hot and cold spots, to greatly improve hatch rate. Again you can purchase via ebay but ensure it's not coming from China or it can take months to arrive. You simply grab an old cell phone charger, 12v, and wire it to the fan. Attach fan to the middle of top with some spacers behind it.

Thanks you thank you thank you. I have my eggs in now for my first batch but before the second batch I will be sure to get that fan in there. I just happen to have an old computer hanging around to to it with. I knew I kept that thing for a reason.

I think its funny that I already have plans to hatch some ducks and whatever else I can think of if I can get the hang of this. Today is day 1 cause I put them in first thing this morning (or so I read) Temps are stable with 3 thermos all going around the same 100-101 temp. The excitement is killing me and I have just begun what am I supposed to do now for the next 21 days?

There is a good thread here about the LG incubators. A person did a side by side comparison of forced air and still air. They determined that if temp at top of egg level is kept at 101 F it greatly improved hatch rate. Normal 99.5 F for forced air and should read same anywhere in incubator.

Thanks for the info. I have read a lot on all the different incubators but I had to pick this one up as my borrowed one never showed. So far everything is doing good. I did have it down to 98 yesterday before I went to work but seeing as I was not going to be home for 16 hours I left it that way and adjusted the temp back up to 100-101 when I got home. I read that its ok for the temp to go down and still have a decent hatch rate then cooking them.

Everything else seems to be going along just as planned. I can't wait to see if I have development this weekend.
