P.S. I will try to add a picture tomorrow of all the eggs!

I will do. I am trying my best to get at least 24 to hatch. I sold 4 dozen of my eggs before to one man on craigslist and he got about a 90% hatch!

Thanks!

Oh my gosh! I did too! Only instead of 36 I put in 33. Mine were said to be Bobwhite but the eggs are spotted like Coturnix so I hope they are Coturnix.

I set mine last night like you so maybe we'll be hatching at the same time. This is my second time trying to hatch quail, but the first time was only 6 eggs and we got only one chick. It was my very first time incubating at all. This time hopefully we'll have a better turn out.

A word of warning...
Hatching is the easy part; brooding is the hard part, at least for bobs.

I know, I have lost over 60 chicks over a period of two weeks.

Some friendly advice!

if they seem to die for no reason put some terramycin or duramycin-10 in their water i was loosing some every day until i started using mycin hope this helps sojono.

Well just an update, well a really late one,

The hatch went totally wrong. None hatched because of one egg. I am lucky it didnt explode in the incubator! As I was cracking them all open on day 21, I had just a few left to check and this one was so bad, I think it was the worst thing I have ever smelled. The inside of the egg was all brown and looked like

I am hoping to try another hatch soon but with a smaller amount of eggs.

Thanks for the support!

I too had a rotten egg. It had cracked length wise in the egg turner and smelled bad. I removed it and all the eggs since it was time to stop turning. I was worried we wouldn't have any hatch. We started with 33 I think and had 13 hatch. Two hatched with swollen purple bellies and one hatched without its stomach closed. Those 3 died. We had a later one die too for unknown reasons. But we have 9 healthy quail chicks. I'm giving them away though, I just love to hatch. Don't really want to raise them through the winter.

same thing happened to me. First batch went great this second batch, of 40 eggs, only 6 hatched. I smelled a really bad smell early on, but can't tell which one it is.

That was a shame. Did you have the eggs shipped in? I examine eggs pretty closely before setting but, then, you can't always see every crack or defect when setting a lot of eggs.
