Enjoy your trip!!!!! Try 1000 year old egg. It may look bad but tastes soo good. Eat cooked things and you should be ok.

I think you should try the stinky fermented tofu I've heard so much about. They say if you want to experience the true culture you got to eat the food..Just need to keep an open mind so to say.

Yep, food is one of the things that I find most fascinating when traveling to other countries. I try not to let my cultural biases get in the way and try just about everything. I can imagine that there would be times that it is just too far out of my comfort zone to be palatable.

I spent some time in Thailand and everything I ate there was delicious. I was warned not to eat food off the street but I did and never asked questions. I dont recall eating one thing that I found offensive. Strange sometimes but not offensive.

I think I did stay away from the raw slugs.

OK...Day 2 here. The people here are WONDERFUL. So very friendly.

Food is definitely different, but I'm being adventurous. I've eaten:

pork stomach
goose legs
frog (so they say)
fish heads
all kinds of vegetables
all kinds of pork and chicken

The area I am in is just east of Guangzhou (which was previously Canton). Headed to Shanghai next week.

Here are a few pictures. I actually saw an ox pulling a plow, geese in a bamboo basket and a bunch of free roaming chickens this morning, but we were going too fast to get pictures. Hope everyone there is well
