I don't want to venture to guess, but what ever "it" is, "its" very pretty!!
Your whole flock is gorgeous as well. I love the mixture you have.

Totally agree with it being a pullet - here's a pic of an 8 week old australorp & a 10 week old BO (at 6 weeks, the BO was very obvious -large comb & wattles already).

why thank you for that picture! soo our BO's are 4 weeks apart in our pictures you say??? And would you think a month would be enough time to grow wattels and a comb like the boy in your picture? If not then i am TOTALLY stoked!!! I had eggs shipped to me "only 4" for $3.25 sent through paypal to a member on here lol. He was very nice. I got the eggs and at day ten...2 were developing and 2 were clear/infertil. Day 18 i lost one fertil egg early it seemed and it left me with just one fertil egg left that was developing FAST. Day 22 came, and with a little help from me, it hatched!!!! I was becomeing attached to the little thing amongst my others in my flock lol. Gotta love hatching

I wish I had taken a photo of the two buff orp roos at 6 weeks, but didn't take any pics till I was ready to rehome them. Even though they are 4 weeks apart apart from your chick in the photo - it was very obvious when the chicks were 5-6 weeks old as to which ones were the roos. It's not just that chicks can't grow combs in 2-4 weeks, it's that their combs START growing before that age. I picked out all 5 BA & BO roos by 6 weeks because of their red combs & growing wattles and waited to confirm (8-10 weeks) before selling them (as you can see I made the correct diagnois). I had 3 australorp roos and they all had similar comb & wattle growth as the BO - the BA in the photo is only 2 weeks older than yours is now.

You can see from these 7 1/2 week old pullets (WLH, RIR, & BR), that their combs are not red yet and quite different from the roos above. Your chick's comb will start turning pink and be similar to the combs these chicks have in the next couple weeks.
