Well, it happened.

I cringed just reading about it! The way Blue likes to jump into my arms I keep imagining what will happen as he matures and gets spurs.

* I don't quite get how they do that with the spurs BEHIND their legs. I took a hit from a guinea hen once as a kid, though. She got mad when I scooped up her chick and nailed me from hairline to the corner of my mouth in a straight streak down over my left eye. It happened on a field trip to the zoo with my class.

Uh farbeit for me to tell anyone what to do but I would clean that cut (if you did get cut) considering what is usually in/on chickens claws. I know 2 people, who had simple cuts, that weren't cleaned, and well 1 ended up with an intravenous antibiotic into his heart for 9 months! and the other had to get a bone-scraping with an operation.

We just don't take cuts lightly around here anymore because of what it could lead to.

yep...simple cut....leads to infection...infection spreads to bone...leads to amputation.

Don't get me wrong I agree with beefy but WOW jump to the worst possible outcome! (yes, yes besides death)

Ah that shouldn't make me laugh should it?

Thanks for pointing that out, Mean. :-)

Usually, though, he's sweet. This is why I didn't expect it. He jumps up on my shoulder and sits and I carry him around... I just wasn't expecting it! Goes to show, never trust roosters too much.
