Well, it's happened she saw the ghost

I've been following this thread-loving hearing the other stories. My 12 year old is very intuitive and both of us have seen figures in our back yard. The neighbors have an historic cemetary. Many of the graves are unmarked so we have no idea. We do know that their is a sea captain buried there. Both of us have seen a man that resembles civil war garb. There is also woman with long brown curly hair in a long white flowing gown (dressing gown or nightgownish type).
The civil war guy just walks and stops and stares and moves on. The woman "floats" across the back lawn always going in the same direction.

I didn't tell my son about the woman but he asked if I had seen her and described her to a T.

And just as a side note. Ouijia boards should never be burned. It is possible to release spirits that you don't want hanging around. The ouijia board acts as a portal and if burned you have no way of sending those spirits back.
I know....call me crazy.

I love reading these stories from you all.

RhettandSarahsmom: what do you exactly experience when you go to an historical site? A bombardment of souls seeking you out? And why do you not want to go to Gettysburg? I'll go with you !! I've had a few experiences, but it's been a long time for me.

Not exactly seeking me out. They seem to know when there is someone around that can "see" them and might willing to talk with them. Some dont care and go on about their business. But others follow and can get annoying.

I dont remember the name of the particular memorial in DC. It was up behind the house that overlooks Arlington Cemetery. (Jefferson's?)
It is surrounded by a large tall hedge and has openings through the hedge itself. BIG granite memorial in the center. Marking a mass grave of unknowns. I walked by it at first. But felt drawn in. Walked and and MAN what a hit. The emotions alone. I guess I staggered out of there according to a traveling buddy.
This past summer when we took Sarah to Battleship Cove in New Bedford I picked up a "tail" pretty fast. He was excited that I was there and had acknowledged him. My daughter wouldnt stay with me after he started following me. Guess she saw him and just didnt want to say anything to us.

I do want to go to Gettysburg though. Use my folks RV and take the kid down to VA as well. But I want to wait til she is a bit older and can appreciate it. I cant wait to take her to the museums and the monuments in DC. And to Lejuene. I also want to visit New Orleans. Yeah. Like that will be an easy trip for me. Visiting one of THE most haunted places on the earth.

I agree... shadow creatures... unless you have something more descriptive. I had one as a child/teen that followed me around. My step-sister also saw it a handful of times. It was a black shape about the size of a cat. Now, if they actually had a description of looks, colors, etc, I'd LOVE to hear about it and can maybe help research what it is. I believe we live among many otherwordly or energy beings and that most folks are just 'blind' to them. But don't get me started....

No, there are no descriptions...just shadow people. From what I have researched, no one has really figured out what they are. There are ideas that they are inter-dimensional beings and we are really seeing "bleed throughs" or their shadows but, that doesn't really explain how they are moving about in our realm, going around corners and things. If they are similar to a ghost, but show up as solid black, like a shadow, then we have to wonder where they came from. There are also theories that they are more like house elves, but I have seen too many, and there is no paranormal activity associated with them...unless the simple fact of seeing them is paranormal. But, it seems that every person can and probably has seen them, so it doesn't seem to be limited to psychic people. The point is, they are completely harmless, although startling!

So they are nothing to worry about.

As far as the Ouija boards go, they are a portal, and while you might be able to communicate with specific spirits, it allows a one-way door to your house and anything can come in. There are "not so nice" entities out there that will lie and you can't determine their intentions through that device. I have always heard that burning it is the only way to get rid of it, and then you will have to do a cleansing or exorcism to try and get rid of any of the negative energies that it brought through. They are no good and very dangerous. Any entity is attracted to anyone that is trying to communicate with them, or that is able to see, hear, or feel them. When you get that board out and use it, you will get the equivalent of a "Black Friday" sale rushing into your house.

KWIM? Anything and everything, and most of it isn't nice. If you are a "sensitive" then it can really affect you badly...or your kids. I wish those things had never been invented.

Wow. Cool thread. I love this stuff. I don't "see" things, but I seem to "know" things, if that makes sense? I believe that there is a thin veil that separates us from the real world and the spirit world.

I too am native american. raised on a reservation with a grandmother shaman who explained alot to me when i was young. I would wathch the tree inwhich you saw the "stick figure". i bet teh tree dies soon or already has. If it is a nature spirit showing its self it will show as the being it is, such as water, rock, plant life its self, not asa a figure with "stick" appearance. The creatures which take on the appearance of the items in nature are feeding off those items, parasitic sort of. Harmless to us but have been know to wipe out entire crops and orchards. Interesting that you saw it if you too are not indian. I had been taught that this was an ability alomost secluded to american indians. You must be quite intune, as well as your son. Consider it a blessing.

Just my thoughts, thats all

Are you talking about the shadow creatures? They are about knee high and just look like shadows running around. Those are completely harmless, but I am not quite sure what they are.

Now, my son (9 yo) has seen a stick type person outside in our big oak tree. I saw it jump from the roof to the tree, but I couldn't explain what it was, just asked if he saw it. He drew me a picture of it, and said it was some type of nature spirit that lives in the tree. Seemed as good an answer as any. He is mixed Irish and Native American, so I think he is extra strong in the Sight.

There are all types of elemental type creatures, so maybe he saw something like that?

Glad to see so many with experiences on the board!

To the OP...the most important thing is to acknowledge your DD's gift and not make her feel crazy or like it is her imagination. I was adopted and my adopted family always tried to make me feel like I was crazy, but they ALWAYS wanted to know what I saw or felt, or what was going to happen. I used to actually keep a journal so I could validate everything. When I got back in touch with my birth family, one of the first questions my mom asked was if I was psychic! LOL! Made me feel much better knowing I had a long family history. I have encouraged my kids and always kept an open line of communication about things like that. It helps a lot.

If you go to Gettysburg be careful. Someone I used to know wentand although she wasnt bombarded with souls trying to communicate she discovered there are some not so friendly spirits there. She did say it was cool, she saw 2 soldiers from opposite sides trading in the field and heard a horse and buggy rushing across a bridge. I think one of the most fierce spirits was outside a cemetery. I would love to go too but Im afraid I couldnt handle the emotions I would feel.

We have Cherokee blood. Although I am only 1/16th, and my kids are 1/32nd. My Great Grandmother was full blood. But, yes, we are very in tune. My son saw the stick figure running along the fence. I saw it jump from the roof to the tree. I got the impression that it lived in the upper branches of the tree, while there is another group that lives lower, among the roots. It is hard to explain, but you might understand what I am saying.

It was not a negative feeling at all, but just very surprising.
This was several years ago, and the tree is doing well. In fact, it is our largest tree and during the devastating ice storm we had this past winter, it didn't lose a single branch. Neither did the Tribal Oak. I think they are very well-protected and very well taken care of.

Thanks for your insight. Our neighbor's uncles are Creek/Muscogee shaman and they are always bringing me little trinkets. I have a collection of acorns the size of large plums! I had no idea they get that big! LOL!

My mother has a gift? of seeing spirits... though 9 of 10 times it makes her wish she couldn't. She used to know when people were going to die... she prayed and she shut herself off to it. She still sees spirits though. Makes her crazy because she is so torn on what to think of them. Part of her is open to it, but the other part of her is caught up in religious preachings that want her to deny them as work of the devil

She's seen some pretty crazy stuff. My DH is sensitive also and sees things, sometimes what he tells me gives me the creeps... but all is well I spose as nothing bad has ever happened

I have had few personal experiences with ghosts. And I am a skeptic and love to debunk

But I do believe that many things exist that we do not understand. I'd love to go to Gettysburg someday. Sometimes energies will trigger me to have 'visuals' and that would be something to experience at a place so infamous.

It's so hard.... the paranormal is much like religion... no real evidence other than one's personal conviction that it took place and was very much real. I'd love to start up a Paranormal Investigation group, but my DH would KILL me! LOL

Hmmmm, interesting. My grandmother told me my grt grandmother immigrated from Canada and she was a Native, not sure what tribe or percent, but interesting all the same.......
