Yes, somehow a peacock got into our neighborhood! He's been roaming around all over the street- in yards, on porches... he seems very interested in windows and houses altogether.

He's afraid of people, so I doubt he was a pet. My guess was that somebody had a flock of free-ranging peacocks, all but this one died, and he or she just put him in the horse pasture at the end of my street to fend for himself. I quite like him.

I've named him Griffin. The first day he came by my dad said he fanned out his tail for my 5-month-old EE pullets, who are afraid of their own tails. So of course, they were pretty scared

Should I leave some sort of food out for him? I have a waterer and I think he can fend for himself, but I want him to stay healthy.

You could put some feed out and maybe he would stick around. Chicken layer pellets and a handfull of dry cat food would work.

Oh he is stunning..put lots of food out, treats..do what u can to keep him around.

I want him..that's what I want an all white peacock..he is so clean looking too and a full healthy top notch..
Xoxo

White peafowl are very striking, and easy to spot! Yes to keep him comming back I would throw out food for him. He is getting most of his food on his own by eating different plants and bugs, but if you give him some treats he probably will think about sticking around. Things like bread, grapes, lettuce, and definitely unshelled unsalted peanuts are favorites. Also these foods can be used to get him eating out of your hand.

P.S.

I loved the pink silkie.

No she wouldn't die it pink because she has already done that with the chicken...I think it would be gold. (That would be really awesome) wannabchick would have all sorts of people wanting her "gold peafowl" variety.

If only there was such a thing...
