I started with 20 Eggs, tossed all the bad ones, and ended up with 14 that were growing. By Day 18 I couldn't see anything in my Dark Brown Eggs so I just hoped for the best. Well four babies were born and I helped two out because it was going on to Day 23 and they were slowly breathing and were not even trying to Zip! only a pip and nothing else from these. That was really a neat experience hatching them in my hands. So I have
4 - Cuckoo Maran/Welsummer X
3 - Welsummer
2 - Cuckoo Maran
1 - Polish bantam (not sure on color yet)
So only 10 hatched out of 14! It was an interesting experience for the first time though.
Oh yeah, forgot to add. I just opened all the other eggs to see what happened. A few were formed but not very big so that means they stopped growing at a certain stage right? Another was rotten with this dark goopy stuff with white bacteria or something in it (GROSS) and another looked like it was ready to hatch but was full of fluid, so I guess he drowned when he piped the air cell? (I feel like that one was my fault, but humidity was fine>?) Hopefully I will have better luck next time!
