Well that was depressing...

Thanks Terri! I'm crossing my fingers for these 3 ?'s guys. I can't see in the EE, so that really sucks. LOL But like I said, 7 isn't that bad and they're for my inlaws. It could be worse and it's really just a fun project for my nieces. I send them weekly updates via email. Like 'Week 1 - Preparing for Your Eggs. Week 2- Arrival of Eggs & Incubation Basics. Week 3- Candling Your Eggs...' So on and so forth. They're really excited and that was the plan, I want them to be pumped to get their little chicks come 'homecoming' day.

I got my Barred Rock Eggs today! They were nicely packed and no bubble wrap...There was two inches of foam on the bottom, foam around each egg and two inches of foam on the top.....Out of 15 eggs, only one was slightly cracked. I put melted candle wax on it...hoping for the best. I'll try and post the picture for you all to see.

I got some eggsin the mail today too. I was sooo bummed.I won some on e-bay and they came from 2 different sellers but they came today at the same time so I was thrilled with that, no staggered hatching. Although I do have an incubator already going with a seperate bunch, these were for the other bator.
Anyway, one seller sent me 6 eggs with no extras and three were broken.Of all six eggs these were the largest and the best color, much deeper than the rest (americaunas). They looked so great if only they weren't broken......
The other seller sent me 9, I won 6 so he sent 3 extra and all arrived intact. That part was great, except the eggs look ed small and pale, not at all like the picture on his website.
I know they can still turn out to be great chickens, it just isn't starting out too promising.
I have 41 eggs in the first bator, RI Reds, NH Reds, Orpingtons,Speckled susses,Leghorns,Barred rocks, Marans, so we will see what hatches.I would love to end up with one hen of each in the end.I can only have so many chickens here where I live so I will give away any extras(I know that will be hard) but I would like a variety. There are still several more breeds that I would like to get as well.I want to get some silkies and various bantams.I think I need a third bator, and a 4th and.....................
