Well.....The Canadian Armada has returned.............

Well, I guess I'll change my e-Bird report to cackling goose instead of Canada goose. I think they have a space for both just case someone's not sure.

In case anyone's wondering eBird is a volunteer project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where average Janes and Joes can report bird sightings through their website. The sightings are used for scientific and informational purposes.

hey what caught my eye was that i have a group of geese that visit my creek behind the house and they always have a pair of mergansers with them....interesting!
My ducks wish they could be with them too...i'm sure they recognize eachother every year.

Dos (the hooded merganser in the photo) has been here since last fall.
He's just decided to stay.

He had 3 or 4 ladies with him last fall/winter, but they moved on.
Dos stayed.

He's a pretty boy and my boys (the pekins) hang out with him constantly on the lake.
I swear I think he's taught them to fish cause I see my boys diving just like Dos does!​

We have move Canadians then we can feed...

We are started to wonder with our new avairy what all will fly in now especially once we get the pond extended again!

So far this year we have had Mallards (with a blond with in the group), 200+ Canadians and a group of 80+ blue wing teal! Love to just wathc them fly in.. They normally come in about 1-2 before dark eat and fly back out. The Mallards hang around more but maybe because we have several we have raised. For all we know they could be ones that we raised coming back. We started banding them last year so we would know what was each hatch!

We had a male and female mallard that stopped in last fall for a few days, but they quickly moved on.
The female could QUACK!!!
Wish we would get some again.

Maybe there are some of ours in that bunch. Our Wood Ducks have been found in North Carolina. (from Ontario Canada)
