My Wellsummer is 3 years old and has been a great layer of dark brown eggs with deep red speckles. This year, after her two month winter break her eggs have only faint speckles. Is this age related? Is there something I can do to encourage the deeper dots?

Normally after the molts or winter brakes the egg will vary in color or shade slightly, age also is a factor after all she’s no longer a spring chicken. One good thing though if she brood she can be a good mom cause of her age(wisdom, maturity). Does she have rooster that you can breed her to have another dark egg w/ speckles babies?

One thing for sure, things can change. :D
Hard to say if the speckles will return or not.
How long has she been back in lay?
I don't believe there's anything you can do t make them come back....
...other than a red sharpie:lol:
