Wellsummers??

I had similar problems with my purchase from Cackle in 2012. But I also had health issues with birds acquired privately from the Midwest. My fear is because of popularity the breed gene pool is stressed, like happened with Golden Retrievers in the 1980's.
Like you, I am carrying on with the Wellies, but will have to cull for vitality for a few years I fear.

I have never heard of that strain of Welsummers (I certainly am not an expert), but I got a few from Whitmore Farm in MD and they are really nice. I also got some of their BBS Ameracaunas and the Welsummers are clearly larger and more vigorous so far (not that the Ameracaunas are bad, just getting outpaced by the Welsummers). Take a look at their site, but you'd be wise to order early, they sell out very quickly.

Thank you very much. I will look at tonight and see about getting on the list. I only have two left of the original 20 or so that i purchases. I just think something was wrong with the hatch. Thank you for the information. Oh, are Americaunas you purchased from them blue layers or green? Best to you.
