welp hatchery

Hmm, there are alot of long posts in this.
I'll just say the same thing I said in another post:

It looks to me like welp is really selling other peoples chicks and just taking your money.

One of the hatcheries they ship from appears to be Privett.
Not sure why you wouldn't order directly from the original hatcherie.

My last chick order was from Welp.. I had one with splayed leg that died.. and as part of the order I had ordered 7 Welsummers and they sent 9 Speckled Sussex.. I will say this.. all the birds are beautiful so far (they are 3 mths old) and healthy. The extra chicks were females. All the males were marked and I didnt even ask for them to mark them. Even though I didnt want the Sussex they were beautiful healthy birds.

Denna, you might want to check out Privett agian. I just went to their website and they say that shipping is now included in the price of their chicks. They stll charge $7 extra for less than a full box and $1 per sex, or per variety of less than 1/4 box. Even when I figure those charges in, Privett is still cheaper than any others that I can find. As a matter of fact, if I had known about Privett before I ordered my Dark Cornish cockerals from Ideal, I could have saved myself $3.50 on the total order. I know it's not much, but every little bit helps! And after what I've read here, it wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that my chicks are actually comming from Privett!

I will have to do that, I do not remember what they carry now, I would like to find some delaware blues, we had bought some eggs to hatch but none did anything, finally cracked them open today (day 26) and none had even started to grow inside..

i got a shipment of chicks from them in july (they were hatched on the 14th).
for my first time with them, they were good, but could have been better.
i ordered 20 broilers st run, 6 Rhode Island Red hens, and 6 White leghorn hens. when i got them, i was short 1 broiler, and one died. as they got older, i found that one of my white hens were actually a broiler, so it got moved in with them. then later, i found that another one of my white "hens", was a rooster! so now i have 4 white hens, 6 rr's and a stupid rooster that hates us all (who might i add, is either getting eaten or sold very soon).
anyway, that was my experience with them...thats the reason i bought an incubator and started hatching my own! and its so much more fun than waiting for chicks in the mail
