i have a 4 week old duckling flock, 3 khakis, 2 Welshies, all girls. They are acting like normal 4 week old ducklings.

My 3 2 week old welshies are really almost too calm. They’re eating and drinking lots of water, but whenever I check on them, they’re cuddled together and not freaking out when I come in the room like normal ducklings.

They look great and healthy but it’s so odd that they are so calm!

Today I introduced a very watery pea purée to them. No interest. What duck doesn’t love peas? Odd.

its like there is a period between 2 and 3 weeks where ducklings will eat whatever you feed them and thats when they develope taste for treats. Depending on what you try feeding them

i used lettuce and now lettuce is a big treat for them but they hate peas!

ive never had welshies but everyone seys they are baby dolls

Your lucky my little WH is my most high strung duckling (I have a Saxony, Blue Swedish & Ancona mix). She’s the first to go running when I crack the door. Also peeps like crazy when I pick her up.

Update...they really don’t want to try anything new. I’m still trying with pea purée. Today I tried to introduce them to a little swimming in a paint roller tray. Absolutely no interest. While calm, they are very timid around me.

This is my third time raising ducklings, and I’ve never encountered this before.

Kinda worried.

At two weeks they might be more interested in slightly deeper water and perhaps floating greens or meal worms in it. I usually have to make a tiny bit of splash in the water with my finger tips before they are interested.
