I'm splitting 10 WH ducklings from Holderread and I'd like to get an idea of what show quality ducklings look like if I go with the base option. Can you also tell which will be silvers and gold when they're ducklings? If you can give me pictures of ducklings and what they look like as adults I'd really appreciate it. THANK YOU!!

I'm pretty sure you can't tell show quality from ducklings. Also female Welsh Harlequins don't get their final plumage coloring until their second year and you won't see the boys' nuptial plumage for several months

Okay. I didn't know if there were special characteristics. I've heard of breeders knowing right off the bat if a baby would be show quality or not, but I couldn't remember if it was for WH or what.

These 3 ducklings were all silver females BUT were NOT breed specific. As adults they have yellow bills with black bean and orange feet.

Silver WH ducklings have a black silvery tinge on head and tail.
Gold WH ducklings have a brown tinge on head and tail.
Hope this helps.
It ALL helps! Turns out the lady I'm splitting my order with also wanted SQ silver phase ducklings, so it should be just trying to pick out males v females. I know Holderread isn't trying to breed for the bill sexing, but I hope it will still be a fairly reliable way to see them out.
