Welsh Harlequin Ducklings Females?

Hey update on our welsh harlequin ducklings.

We purchased two females, but they seem to be showing different colors. One of them has always had a bit of a darker face and now the bill and feet are a lot darker in color than the other duckling.

If anyone has raised these before and can help identify if they are male or female that would be a great help.

Do you know if you got gold phase or silver phase? They show very different colors at that age, and that could be the difference you are seeing. Where did you get them? Do you know if they were vent sexed or sexed by bill color?

I typically don't rely on bill color (after 1 week old) until they are more feathered than yours. It takes a while for the females to get their dark bills, and the males to get their olive bills.

Sadly bill colors don’t really work well to sex after the first few day. It does look like you may have a silver and one gold phase though.

If they both had pink bills with a darker spot at the tip when they were newly hatched, they are probably both female, despite that their bills and feet are darkening now. We were quite worried that one of our girls was a drake because of her darker head, which she kept, but she was all girl. It’s too early to tell for sure.
