Welsh Harlequin Ducklings

If you choose to make your own video, be sure to just film one duck at a time so we know who is making what noise.
Later tonight or this weekend we will make some videos and see if you guys can help us out with the ID. We are first time duck owners so were pretty much clueless outside of what we can read online

The males of both breeds will grow a drake feather, eventually. I can't remember what age, maybe close to 6 months... but a drake feather is just one feather, it can be plucked out or lost or damaged, so that lack of one doesn't always mean you have a female. Voice sexing would be more accurate at this age for sure, but certainly upload photos of your ducks, we always love to see duck photos, and maybe we will be able to sex them from the photos!

Watch (with the sound up) some duck voice sexing videos. You will be able to figure it out, especially if you have at least one of each. My drake sounds like a frog and my hens sound like they are honking when they get worked up.

I know these are not the best pics as I'm on my phone. I did notice the bill color of the darker khacki is also darker in color than the smaller lighter one which is a lighter brown. The small khacki is a loud mouth and def quacks when you pick her up.

No drake feathers in any of these pics and no male coloring on the KCs yet. Sounds like you have at least one that quacks to compare to!

Yeah both of the khackis quack louder than the pekins, the pekins sound like raspy when they quack. But the one khacki is def louder then the other one. I think i may order 2 females now anyways just to play it safe and i would rather them be introduced sooner than later to keep from any issues.

Sounds like a plan! You will still need to raise the new ones in the brooder and wait until close to full grown to introduce them, so probably 2 months at least.

My current plan (let me know if this seems bad) Raise new ones inside until about week 4-5. Brood them outside in the pen with ducks so they can see each other without touching. Introduce when they are around 10 weeks and supervise.

You have to remember too maybe this was already brought up but female ducks shouldn’t be around mature drakes until at least 5 months old hormonal drakes will mate even very young ducks if given the chance so might need to consider splitting your pen or making a pen with in the pen, dog kennel works well. X pens.
