Welsh harlequins diving

This probably sounds silly to many of you. I have had Rouens and Buffs before they loved my Koi pond which is about 14-16 feet long 3ft deep to 5ft deep.

I now have Welsh Harlequins and they are CRAZY about the pond! They dive all the way down and go the length of the pond. Do most breeds dive? I have seen all of the tip down and kick their feet but the WHs are like penguins.

I think it has more to do with personality of the birds.Half of my ducks love to splash and make a mess while the other half don't even like water

OK. All love the water here. I was just so surprised to see the whole duck that far under water. We have so many wild mallards in N. Texas with all the ponds in the subdivisions and golf courses. I had never seen the mallards around here diving. The wild Mallard we had in the yard would dive with the Harlequins.
