Welsh Harlequins?

Great results with your ducks which is about what people usually experience, . . . except for the choking to death! I am curious because this seems to be a very unusual thing, did they have water availble when this happened?
(I think one of the best things about this forum is how we can learn from each other, so no judgement, I just want to understand how this could have happened so we will all know how to avoid it.)

I think they choked on ground corn.

They probably needed a deeper waterer. The chicken waterers do not seem to be optimum for ducks.

I have Welsh. They are beautiful, sturdy, nice size, lay eggs & do go broody. Mine came from webfoot in austin who isn't breeding now. I've gotten birds from Holderread's. Their BEI breeder stock are great!! They would be a great source for birds. Good luck.

That is correct. The ducks need to have water deep enough to be able to basically immerse their whole head.

I keep buckets all over my backyard. One gallon sized. I bought them for about 1.50 a piece at the paint store. When the water gets too low for them to dunk their heads, I fill them up. They have a few fav ones that need filled everyday, but most of them only need filled once a week.
