Welsummer comb development?

Does this breed always develop a comb early?
I have 2 juvies that are roosters, and 2 chicks that are 2 weeks old. I'm pretty sure one of the chicks is a hen because she has the "triangle"on her head, and the one that doesn't have it is getting black in the breast feathers already.
But at 2 weeks- they already have combs that- if they were say Orps or Rocks- you'd surely say they were roos.

I can try to get some pics if needed- but this is just a general question.

Sounds like you've got some roos if the breast feathers are dark.

My leghorns had early comb development in roos... I'm certain there are other breeds also.

The Welsummer chicks I got were easily sexed by the head and "eyeliiner" markings. Out of 16, I tallied 6 roosters (pretty good odds, eh?) This turned out to be true later when they matured.

Mine also developed combs and wattles early on...I want to say about 4 weeks. Also, they get the larger legs and feet.

Pretty easy to sex compared to some other breeds (Ameraucanas for example).

Well- both of these chicks had a very clear triangle on the head. One had a triangle outlined in black- so I was sure that one was a girl. Now they are only 2 weeks and getting big combs. This is my first time having them this young so.....

Pleeeease let me have 1 hen!

If their combs and wattles are larger and pinker than the others, you can be certain they are cockerals. Pullets do not red up until around five to six months old.

I noticed the different feather colors at about 3 months, the roos were getting much darker around the neck and the females were getting their gold tones.

How long does it take a young Wellie Roo to get his full colors?
