Welsummer & Cuckoo Marans Chick Sexing

Welsummer #1 is a pullet. Even though the eyeliner isn't very defined on #2, my guess is that one is as well.

I'm not as familiar with Marans, but I think #1 is also probably a pullet.

These tend to be really sweet breeds, my Welsummer ladies are kind of shy, but gentle and my BCM chick so far is confident but patient with her flock mates. I'm sorry about your laying hen, but I hope you enjoy your new girls!
Thank you! I hope that you are right—our other Welsummer laid lovely terra-cotta eggs with speckles and she was quite chatty. I’d love to have those types of eggs in our basket again.

I realize they are way to young for us to play this game, but I don't see hardly any eyeliner on welsummer 2. And it looks to have much thicker legs. Will be fun to see how it turns out in a couple months!

Looking at them again, it looks like #1 might have slightly more developed wing feathers too, so you might be right! I was going mostly off how defined the V is on the head, but it's pretty tricky at this point.
