Good morning BYC. Here I am again with a pullet question.
I have a Welsummer pullet who I think just started laying. She is the last of my 8 pullets to lay eggs.
She is 28 weeks and two days ago I heard her sing the egg song on the side of the house where I never saw any of the other pullets venture and it’s also blocked to discourage them from going in. I checked and found one egg hidden picked it up and yesterday I found another egg though this time I didn’t see or hear her. Egsg are perfect. Fairly big and hard shell though they are only very dark brown and no specs on them the way I thought a Wellie is supposed to lay. She might not be a Wellie? She does have some very short feathers between her toes which I understand it is unwanted on a Welsummer.
Here are some pics of of Bellini and a pic of her egg next to a Cuckoo Maran and RIR eggs. Her egg is the one on the left.
She only just started to squat for me yesterday.
