Good morning BYC. Here I am again with a pullet question.
I have a Welsummer pullet who I think just started laying. She is the last of my 8 pullets to lay eggs.
She is 28 weeks and two days ago I heard her sing the egg song on the side of the house where I never saw any of the other pullets venture and it’s also blocked to discourage them from going in. I checked and found one egg hidden picked it up and yesterday I found another egg though this time I didn’t see or hear her. Egsg are perfect. Fairly big and hard shell though they are only very dark brown and no specs on them the way I thought a Wellie is supposed to lay. She might not be a Wellie? She does have some very short feathers between her toes which I understand it is unwanted on a Welsummer.
Here are some pics of of Bellini and a pic of her egg next to a Cuckoo Maran and RIR eggs. Her egg is the one on the left.
She only just started to squat for me yesterday.

Whatever she is, she is beautiful! And so is her egg! Welsummer Brown Leghorn cross??? I have one of each and that’s what they would seem to look like if they were crossed.
She is beautiful and sweet and I love her either way. I was looking forward to those speckled eggs....Oh well as long as she’s healthy and happy it’s all good.

She's not a welsummer, especially with white earlobes. She should lay white eggs.
All this time I thought she was but she is a pretty girl so it’s not a big deal. This is why I will never buy chicks from a feed store ever again.
I don’t see white ear lobes on her though and she is definitely laying brown eggs. I only have a white laying pullet.

Here's a picture of my Welsummers (and the chick in my profile picture is one of them). The darkest eggs are from these girls. Isn't it fun finding eggs when those pullets finally decide to start laying??

They’re so beautiful. She looks somewhat like her...
So yours doesn’t lay speckled eggs either?

I have the same skelter and I love it

The egg on the right is speckled. I just checked about 5 dozen eggs, and most of them have that type of speckling. Welsummer eggs can really vary, from very pale brown with no speckles to eggs with large speckles.

She looks like a Welsummer to me. One of mine's ear lobes almost look white.
