Welsummer Hen with spurs

Two of my Welsummer hens have started growing spurs! What is that about? They are 10 months old and are laying an egg almost every day. Is this normal?

Yep, totally normal. Some girls just grow spurs. Also some bossy hens will even take up crowing and mounting if there's not a rooster around.

Spurs in chickens are not unique to males -- many hens will grow impressive spurs and many roosters will go their lives spurless. Your girls are entirely normal.
