I have one Wellie in my flock, so limited experience but will say she is a friendly, chatty girl and her eggs are very pretty (each one is different, some speckled more than others).

They are a heavy laying breed. Should lay dark brown eggs "not as dark as Marans though" with speckles. Typically are fairly good layers.

They are a nice looking bird, good in a flock, reasonably friendly.

I have only had one and she is friendly and a good layer-in her prime 6-7 days out of seven. Although she's pushing 4 years old now she's still laying 4-5 days a week. Calm mannered and easy to look at.
