Welsummer or Easter Egger?

Oh yes! My sister almost slaughtered two brown leghorns I bought for her. They had huge combs and she was convinced they were Roos. Luckily one laid an egg on Camp day. -saved by the egg- lol

Oh gosh yes! I had two white leghorn and everyone told me. "Those are roosters." And would literally argue with me! So eventually I gave up and said, "well those roosters are staying because they each lay me an egg a day!"

Good luck poster! Post update pics in a week or two :)

Naw. Based on the color and the autosexing abilities of Wesummer I'd say gender isn't a certainty. I've called out two males before correctly, but that makes me no expert. Plus the juvenile feathers usually show more red at this age in males. But the legs and comb are large.

I'm sorry but autosexing breeds especially hatchery stock autosexing birds can actually loose the ability to be autosexed. Poor breeding can do this as I'm sure most people know.

The only breed I will ever believe for certain is "sexed" will be sex links. I'm very skeptical of hatcheries

Mine were hatchery stock and poor examples of the breed. I only had a fifty percent chance of being wrong though. Welsummers have pretty correct color for hatchery birds. Still poor. But better than anything else I've seen. I doubt the show birds are bred for autosexing abilities either. I was just pointing out that there still was a possibility for it to be female, even with thick legs.
