This is Huguette... part of a "rare breeds" assortment I got from Meyer. Anyone have a good guess about what she might be? She's got a mohawk stripe down her head (which continues into a sort of chipmunk stripe down her back!) in addition to the Cleopatra eyes. I've been studying pictures and my best guess (based on "rare breed" possibilities) is Welsummer... any other ideas ??

Someone told me that Speckled Sussex and Brown Leghorns (??) can also look a lot like Welsummers. I have never owned either breed, though :)

Your bird is not a Speckled Sussex which have whitish or pinkish legs. It's either a Welsummer or a Brown Leghorn. If its earlobes turn red, it is a Welsummer. If white, then it is a Brown Leghorn.

Looks very much like my Welsummers. Michael is right about the earlobes.

Pretty girl, either way!

I have both a Welsummer and Brown Leghorn pullet this year. Their markings are almost identical, but my leghorn is much darker, almost black in her feathering compared to the Welsummer, who is redder. I'd say from comparison to my two gals that you've got a Welsummer!
