My one and only Welsummer started laying very small eggs in August and kept laying very small eggs till about the end of September. Then she just plain quit and hasn't laid one since. We are keeping the light in the coop at about 15 hours, so she should never have quit. Any ideas?

She might be lonely. Chickens are flock animals and really need each other. I would try looking on craigslist to try to get another pullet.

She has 5 sisters, so I don't think she's lonely unless you meant another Welsummer. They definitely are flock animals....Thanks

oh, i thought that you meant 1 and only welsummer, like you only had one :) She may be in molt. They will stop laying then. If there are feathers anywhere, and if she's looking a little thin, then she's in molt.
