I have some teenager Welsummers, about six weeks old. They came from the flock at Estes and seem to be doing very well.
I was supposed to get one rooster with them, so I have been waiting eagerly to see which one would turn into the rooster. Of course, he could have been the one that stuck his head under the waterer and died but we will hope not.
I think I have figured out which one is the rooster, because the colors are starting to come out.
But strangely, he appears to be a little smaller than the others, and have fewer tail feathers.
You Welsummer people, do you think this is normal for the little guy? Of course, I could be wrong, but I think he is the rooster.
Thanks.
Catherine
