Got two welsummer chicks in Feb 2017, requested one pullet and one rooster. As they grow (20 weeks now) they look nearly identical. By now, I assume it should be obvious, but I am no expert. I believe I might have two hens, please confirm or deny.

Nearly the same size comb (one very slightly redder), nearly same tail and hackles, one is slightly bigger through shoulders with slightly stockier legs.

I tried to get them both in the same frame to compare side by side. I have more pics if needed.

A salmon-colored chest is the definitive giveaway for a pullet. Roos will have a black chest. You can tell about 3-4 weeks old.

Great info, thanks. I knew they ended up with different colored plumage, just thought the male was taking a while getting there. Did not know about the black chest, that would have been a dead giveaway a while ago! Should have done more research on sexing these when I got them! Welsummer cockerels are stunning, too bad. Thanks again.
