Welsummer?

Hi BYC friends!

One of my chickies is a Heritage Welsummer, and I think I've narrowed it down to my little Lottie. Looking for confirmation on that =)

Also, the coloring and patterning seems to point to female. What are your thoughts, experts??? Lottie is about 4.5 weeks old.

That looks like a pullet, if not a Welsummer, then a Crested Legbar (is that what it's called?).

I did notice that little crest, and was wondering about that! What's confusing me is that the only other bird that could be the Welsummer is much darker in color, and also seems to be developing a bit of a crest. The head pattern on that one as a baby chick didn't appear to be like a Welsummer, either.

I have three birds with this general coloring. Two are female CCL mixes ("azure eggers"), and one is the unsexed Heritage Welsummer. Photo #1 is obviously one of the Legbar mixes because of her crazy crest. Photo #2 is what I was thinking was the other CCL mix, and then Photo #3 is Lottie the maybe-Welsummer (bird #2 in the background).

Is bird #2 maybe the Welsummer? Isn't that a little crest coming up on that bird, too? All the chickies are the same age, about 4.5 weeks.
