Welsummers in VA?

Also, do you have any fertile eggs right now? It doesn't matter if they're mixed or not, I juse want to get some eggs so I can learn this whole incubator thing, if I can get the chicks and the eggs from the same place it would be better than having to go to 2 different places. Just any old fertile eggs would be fine, I don't want to spend a fortune on eggs for none of them to hatch, lol, so for the first hatch I want to try with some cheap eggs that I won't loose much money on.

I'm pretty sure I can come get them this weekend. I just want a positive 'yes' from my husband first. I'm not sure I'd we'd come on Saturday or Sunday though. I'll know more around 7:30 this evening.

Silkies are adorable. I have banty cochins, they are more of a pet. They are laying pretty well and I got several chicks out of them this year, they are very social little birds. I will be happy to hold on to them if you really want them. Just got an offer of $50 for all of the birds I listed, I know the lady and she doesn't keep her chickens very secure so basically she feeds the neighborhood fox. Needless to say, I am not selling to her.

Oh, no!! Yeah, here they will be in a completely enclosed run with a nice big coop, I let mine out to free range for a little bit during the day where I can keep an eye on them but at night they are in their coops. I lost a silkie chick not too long ago to something, I'm still not sure if it was a fox or someone's hunting dog but since then they don't leave my sight and are in their "beds" at night. I was devistated when I found him missing. We have predator proofed the runs since then. I always keep the chicks in their runs though, they're just to small to let out right now. Have you ever heard of Nankin bantams? I got 4 of those a couple weekends ago, they are really pretty too, the roos look just like miniature Welsummers roos! All of my chickens are my pets though, they all have names, lol. I know alot of people use their chickens as meat, I was just telling someone the other day, I couldn't do that, that would be like me using my dogs for meat, it's unthinkable to me. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE fried chicken but it's got to be someone else's chicken that they processed, I just don't have it in me to do it, lol. But yes I definitely want them, I'll give you a definitive answer about this weekend around 7:30 or 8 this evening when my husband gets home though.

And I'd love to buy any fertile eggs you might have, mixed is fine, I can't wait to try my bator out, lol. I've been researching and studying so I think I'll do pretty good, but just incase, I don't want to spend too much on the eggs. I bought a good name brand bator, its a Little Giant, and the guy that sold it to me gave me a hatching box with it so I'm all set up and ready, now I just need some eggs, lol.

Do you have any pictures of the chicks or your grown Welsummers that you could post? I want to show them to my husband, he'll fall in love once he sees them, lol
