Welsummers??

A wile ago we got three speckled sussex, two blue laced red wyandottes, and four Easter eggers. As they started to get feathers I became suspicious that two actually were not SS! After a bit of research I started to suspect that they are welsummers! I orginally wanted welsummers but couldn't find them being sold anywhere, can someone confirm the breed of these two? They are around 8 weeks old now.

They are Welsummer! Both Wels and your SS are pullets. It is easy to get chicks mixed up. Guess the luck was in your boat!

The first two are welsummers, and the third one is a SS. Welsummers do not get mottled white feathers like your sussex has, and she has SS leg coloring. All of them are pullets.

Most likely Welsummers. Could be Brown Leghorns but they look more shaped like Welsummers. If they develop white earlobes then you've got Leghorns.

Thank you!!! I will definitely be looking for the white earlobes, still hoping for welsummers

! I'm glad they're all girls too! (The last pictures of Confetti were actually taken a wile ago though.) I'll post more sussex pics tomorrow though, if you would like to try sexing! The "Welsummers' photos were taken today though.

I have a bonus question

, all of their combs (mostly EE) have been bright red! Is it from the heat?? It got up to around 100⁰ here today!!! (as you can see in one of Spark's photos, she was panting!)

They can blush from heat or excitement. They love watermelon on hot days
