LOL! I keep looking at pictures of black and white babies...they are all starting to look alike! I never knew how close they all look to each other. They are very large chicks. Almost as big as the cornish. Way bigger than the EE chicks. I will just have to wait and see. I am happy with them, no matter what they grow up to look like.
The feed store had silky chicks today and I soooo wanted to get some..... they were straight run and I didn't want to risk getting a roo. Oh boy, they sure were sweet though!
I think Max may be a Barred Rock... either way, they are soooo adorable! And my husband has strictly forbidden me to drive within 5 miles of TSC until the end of April LOL
That is so funny. I need to go back and get some blue kote for BooBoo...I must be strong and walk past the chicks! If I call ahead of time, I wonder if they would put the blue kote up near the register, so i don't have to walk past them.
Either way, I have to go and be strong... Do you think Dh would notice 1 more chick?

No, it said straight run. The guy working there had no idea what was what. So we just picked out cute ones that were eating, drinking, running, and seemed healthy, with no pasty but and good legs.
We know some a corning, EE, but the rest, we haven't been able to find anything positive on. The black and whites are standard and 1 looks like a barred rock, but the other 2 do not have a white spot on their heads. They gray bantam...we have no clue. Must be a mutt of some sort. He is very pretty though. Hopefully we do not have many roosters. I guess that is a wait and see thing.
I am just loving this. I always wanted chickens. Ever since I was a little girl. I am so happy right now!
If you are going to do this, you HAVE to learn the names....it is Cornish not Corning(that is a town in NY that makes glassware and is also the name of the company). You do Snowflake is a Silkie or Silkie cross I think. Yes, they are cute and wonderful and make many hours of entertainment, a great substitute for television. The first one looks like an EE, but some of your pics are pretty fuzzy. Oh yeah, they are chicks, they are supposed to be fuzzy

Welcome to the insanity of chicken obsession!
Oh My!! I didn't even notice that I typed "corning" I meant "cornish". I am just that way, swear it is my age...but sometimes I know what I want to say, but a different word comes out. Guess I am typing that way now too.
Ah ha! I found out why I spelled Cornish wrong!!!! My spell checker wants to change it to "corning". So it isn't me...LOL!
Thanks! Yes, I know snowflake is a silkie.
