We're having 80 degree weather-when are my chickens going to lay??

"I feed them 3 way scratch, table scraps...they eat plenty of bugs and grass."

A lot of folks will say to definitely switch to layer crumbles or pellets. Im not sure how much difference it would make but I believe scratch is more for their scrathing satisfaction than for thier overall maintenence.

IMO, if you feed layer feed and oyster shell only, your hens will get everything they need to maintain their bodies and produce eggs. Feeding them scratch, some table scraps and what they find foraging, they may or may not get what they need. Easier to feed layer feed and count everything else as a bonus. Ends the guessing game of whether they got enough of the nutrients they need to produce eggs.

I have found through experience that a little scratch or cracked corn is good for them in bitter cold weather. The digestion of the seeds increases their internal body tempature.
I also feed a little scratch each evening in "normal" weather as well. My customers like the bright orange yolks.
