I'm going there this morning to pick up some eggs from a breeder! Small world! LOLon your way back to PA stop in the Morgantown Southern States and give me a shout, I am the lawn and garden manager at that store.
I came in! Looked around awhile and left before I spent a million dollars! I love that place. I found boots, a coat, a purse and a Bible cover that I want...lol. My hubby won't be letting me return very soon!sorry I missed you ,this was my weekend off
I might be able to help you out this coming spring. Getting ready to hatch some Silkies but right now I only have Buff Orpington, SLW, and LF Cochins.I am looking for either chicks, adult chickens, or fertile hatching eggs. The breeds I am looking to add to my flock are Bantam Cochins, Fizzle Bantam Cochins, Silkies and Polish. I am in the Fairmont area of Marion County but willing to drive a little bit. I'm just trying to avoid the risk and expense of shipping chicks or eggs. As I mentioned I am also willing to buy adult chickens from the right breed. If you have any of these or know someone locally who does, let me know. Thanks!!![]()
I'm sorry if this makes me sound like an idiot, but what is an SLW? LOL Def keep me in mind this Spring. Sadly there are very limited resources for lots of the breeds around here, especially quality breeders. Thanks for the info! I will try to remember to look you up this Spring!I might be able to help you out this coming spring. Oh I have 1 silver laced Wyandotte and I just love her! If you do ever decide to breed them, let me know. I'm in a similar situation. I have LOTS of pure breds, but I let the free range together for the most part. I do keep my bantam Cochins alone. I have to figure something out there as well tho, because I have a Frizzled Bantam Cochin roo and 1 Frizzled and one Smooth Bantam Cochin hens. I want to hatch the eggs from the smooth Cochin, but not the Frizzle since my roo is a Frizzle too. They say that leads to feather issues in the offspring. So I either need to learn to distinguish between their eggs or put them in a different pen. Let me know what you decide down the road.silver laced wyandotte and don't feel bad, I just learned what it was last week. Lol. I've never sold any as this is my first year but I snatched my eggs from my brother's pen. He has a Cochin roo in with 4 hens and he is the only one that eats the eggs and he has no interest in hatching more so I get lots. I am still debating if I want to set up breeding pens to keep pure breeds or to let them mix. I do have Roosters of each breed so its possible but I prefer to let them free range all day.
Dropping by to say hello from Marion County, WV! I was wondering if there were other Mountaineers on here, and happened upon this thread. I have been raising chickens for about 7 years and have nearly 40 at this point. Just getting into that incubating and hatching with broody hens though. Looking forward to talking to more WV chicken owners!![]()
