Hello. Tina here. I live in WV. I am very new to BYC and chickens. I have 14 now. I do not know much about them but I do know what I have (amazingly!!!) If anyone else is from WV drop me a line. even if you are not from WV and you have some helpful tips of info on breeds please let me know. Because I do not have much knowledge about Chickens but wanting to learn. I have 3 WLH pullets, 3 red sex-links, 1 RIR, 1 blk australorp, 3 blk Langshans, 1 big old Roo mix, 1 Milli Fluer Roo & 1 Blk australorp peep. I would love to have some hens for my featherfooted roo and a Blk Langshan Roo for my girls. I also am a horse person. I have 4. but most of all I was blessed with a beautiful 6 year old son who loves animals and the outdoors and a most of the time understanding husband! I need help with this site too. there are so many things here I do not know where to start... Sorry

Hello, fellow hillbillies! I am from Pendleton County, WV and am getting back in to the chick biz after a year's dry spell. Am starting out with a few new layers (free!) from my sis, Black Ostralorpes, Silver-laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons and RIRs. I want to get some Barred Rocks, Dominiquers?, Golden Comets and Rainbow Cornish. I can't wait to feel the peace steal over me as I sit and watch them scratch and purr.
I have 2 sons still at home, 18 and 16 (Eli and Jon), two labs (Lucy Lou and Chocolate Jake), one red tabby (Spike). I live on a rent-a-farm with a large apple orchard and hope to make a deal in regards to the pasture next door so we can get a couple of horses, maybe a sheep or two later. I am going to start no-till, organic gardening this year and get back into making soaps, lotions, salves, etc. Also plan to try something new....drying flowers and herbs to make everlasting wreaths and baskets. Also plan to get into beekeeping this year. No husband and Eli goes away to college this year. Planning all these things so I will be so busy when the last chick leaves the nest that I will have plenty to occupy my time. Won't have too much time to cry and bury my head in a box of chocolates every day. Am also a nurse, massage therapist and a new medical transcriptionist.

Well, enough about me.....tell me everything about y'all!

Welcome Beekissed! You sound very busy! hopefully the chickens will help you stop and smell the roses, ha, ha, no really they are so much fun to watch, they are better then a fish tank to lower blood pressure, or maybe it's just the WV version of happy pills!
