(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've had chickens since 2020 when a friend had a huge clutch of them from a broody hen. Built my coop as fast as I could before colder weather set in and they got too big for my basement chicken box fort.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Only two girls as of now (Had a Racoon), but 6 more babies coming(and making the plans for building an armored coop).
(3) What breeds do you have?
Two Easter-Eggers (Ameraucana/Jersey Giant Cross) and Six Ameraucana babies coming.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They're hilarious and cute - especially mine
with their puffy faces, plus bonus eggs (Although not laying since fall).
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, painting, hiking, swimming.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Big family with lots of kids, no other animals as of now, dream of living in the woods with goats and ponies but DH likes town life.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found BYC when searching for pictures of chicken coops before I built mine in 2020. Been lurking since then.
