Westford, MA swap Sun. ****april 11TH

Anytime we get a new animal here it seems someone "tells" on us because the animal control officer comes down to check. Things are typically fine because I do have to get a stable permit for the ponies and a livestock permit for the chickens each year and the animal control officer typically drops by around this time of year just to give a quick look that the animals all look fine and manure isn't piling up.

either the beast has gotten really big or that barking rat is really little! cute pics gypsy

Both the Beast out weighs the barking rat by 93 lbs.
The only time the 2 dont get along is at night time when the barking rat morphs into the guard dog from he!!
geesh what a bratty little thing.

Lisa, how old are they and who are they coming from, about how old are they ?
I do know someone who is looking for Umbrellas, I have her number and will contact her to see if she is interested.
The womans husband has been looking for parrots and refuses to go to the bird store for them after a bad experience.

Hehehe.
i think we are fine though, my landlord says this is a business property, and all the neighbors keep calling it a farming land.

The guy who did our inspection did not ask for a permit or anything like that, just wanted to see how they are.

Mine just looks at the coop and yard and then hands me my new permit for the year, he writes down how many chickens I told him we had, asks if you have roosters and fills out a grade and thats it.
Later I will get a $5.00 bill from the town for a livestock fee.
Funny story, kinda, anyway we aren't really suppose to have roosters but the deal is if nobody complains the officer doesn't care.
So he looks around the yard at the chickens and says so do you have any roosters?
I actually have two, one never makes a sound, I don't even know what the crow would sound like and the other only crows every once in a great while.
I decided to level with him because I was afraid it would come back to bite me, plus I really like the guy and I would feel bad so I say well actually I do and just then my marans rooster starts crowing.
So I say but he hardly ever crows and none of the neighbors mind they told me they love the sound of roosters, which is actually the truth.
Well he just keeps on crowing and crowing every couple of seconds.
My husband was several feet away and laughing at me as I got all flustered trying to explain that this crowing is really unusual for him, finally the guy goes "let me rephrase the question"
"Do you have any rooster?" I finally catch on and say "no I do not."
He says great here ya go and hands me the permit.
aye aye aye, do you think I have heard that darn rooster crow since?!

The paper that you guys get from the inspector does it say this
The commonwealth of massachusetts
Department of Agricultural Resurces
Bureau of Animal Health
Owners copy

Yes it does.
Edited to add, does your inspector give you a copy of the inspection at the time of the visit or do you get it by mail?
He changes mine each year to allow for how many animals I have at the time because the orginal permit isn't accurate anymore, so if there is ever an issue I have an updated permit, I just keep it with the original and all my past inspections.

I wasn't here when our inspector came, I just found the permit on the coop door.

She missed a few of the free rangers though. I have 25 birds, and she only saw 13.
