My female call duck, peach, has been getting really wet when she swims, if I touch her oil gland she get very mad she quacks really loud and trys to get away or bite me, also her oil gland is not producing much, if not any oil

I am having to not have much water in their pen as she gets water logged after a swim, they have a large plastic tub which I usually fill to the top (she can't stand when it is full) but I am having to keep the water at standing depth as I am worried she will drown

I have been giving her a warm bath to try and help but it hasn't

We have bought some blackstrap molasses to put with her food as we read that it helped them produce oil

We can take her to the vet if needed

I dont know what to do to help her

Any advise?

Thanks

Hopefully some duck owners will give some advice. Have you looked at or taken a picture of her oil gland? Could it be swollen and abscessed or blocked? If so, a warm wet compress can be held onto it for 10 minutes, and the gland can be massaged. This article may help you:

There was another article that stated that ducks should have access to water in order for their preen glands to function. Let us know what the gland looks like.
Here is the article:

Sorry I only saw this now and ment to update the post
On Wednesday I gave peach a shower
I wet her all the way through her feathers (which happened as soon as the water touched her), put soap on her (which I would never do except for this instance) then I rinsed her and then with vinegar and then again with water
By the end the water was beading on her back which was very surprising
Then I wiped her down with a towel and hair dryed her till she was dry
By the end her oil gland was working my fingers were covered after I touched it and felt funny the rest of the day
I was so happy
I put her back in her pen with no swimming water
Today I put her pool back in and she swam and didn't get very wet

You might not be able to help but if you knew anything.
My Runner duck, roady, when I picked him up this evening he was quite skinny and his crop felt empty, do you know what I could do for him?
I wormed him in November/December
He eats duck maintenence and mixed corn, which he has ablib (except at night when he is in his house)
I would say all my duckies feel a little skinny, I don't know what is wrong (I have 10 ducks, roady the indian runner, a silver appleyard, and 8 call ducks)
I might make a post about him
Thanks
