Wet silkies?

No need for food and water in coop. Food in the coop is a bad ideal because of mice and rats. I have a roof on my chicken run bit don't seem to help that much. I only put my silkies in the coop then the rain is really bad. I live in Lakeland FL. I been having trouble more with heat and rain helps with that.

Silkies are fine out in the rain as long as they have some sort of shelter to go under. I've noticed my silkies purposefully stand outside in downpours. I'm not sure why. They aren't the smartest sometimes.

Chicks, on the other hand, I would not let stand out in the rain.

I am trying to decide how to build the run, should it have a roof? their coop is very secure....

Yes, definitely put something over the top. My run is covered with bird netting so no hawks can get in.

This may be a stupid question, should silkie be out in the rain ( I live in Florida), or do I need to put them in their house?

Umm... They will most probably be under a cover as most if not all chickens do that. But I have to admit, seeing a wet silkie would be funny.

they roost but the food and water is in the coop so always available this is there tractor they now have a metal roof on covering them three of them sheets used I have ultra protective of them
