my girls prefer their food wet so i mix them up batches of porridge (layer crumbs and water) through out the day. they also have free choice of dry crumbs

someone told me they need alot of dry in order for their gizzard to grind with the grit ….and that feeding alot of wet causing blockages

is this true , should i limit the wet feed ?

(i always throw out any uneaten portions so mold isn’t an issue, and i’ve tried fermented feed they don’t like it)

I think your friend is forgetting the function of the crop - and that what the gizzard is grinding down is the corn & whole grains, not the rest of the feed, which is already broken down. It's why chicks don't need grit as long as they are only eating starter.
