So I noticed these red bumps on my 8 week old speckled sussex legs. Is this normal for the breed or should I be concerned?

I've never seen that before. Does she act like it stings? If so, I guess it could be a sunburn.

I don’t think she’s acting like it bothers her... I can touch it and she doesn’t pull away or anything
Hmm. I don't know what's wrong with it. I can ask one of my friends, who's a chicken farmer if you'd like. But I won't get to see them for at least a couple of days so I wouldn't be able to tell you what they say right away.

Yes thank you I would appreciate that!

It could be the beginning of leg mites. You could smear vaseline or olive oil on it for a few days and see if that helps. I've seen this in roos as a sign of virility, but in hens it's probably mites.

To me that looks like the red "rash" that adolescent cockerels get when their hormones start surging. At 8 weeks it would be on the young side for that, especially as it is a sussex which are slow to mature. A photo of the whole bird might help to shed more light on it. Did you buy sexed pullets from a hatchery. Also the colour of the bird looks a little wrong for a speckled sussex but it may just be the lighting.

Agreed, looks like hormones to me too.
More photos of the whole bird would be helpful:)
