We have two frizzle chicks, around 6 weeks old from same breeder. They look completely different. It’s also much smaller in size. Curious if anyone knows why? In the pic you can see the one in question at the bottom and its sibling is at the top of the photo. Just a runt? The one in question had pasty butt and inflamed vent around 2 weeks old. Maybe that impacted it? Thanks in advance.

I'd watch it. Gut reaction is that it's a frazzled, but it's also possible the earlier health issues are just the culprit and its nothing that serious

They kind of look like polish frizzles. They are very pretty birds regardless.

I don't think that pasty butt messed with the growth. I have had chicks with pasty butt look no different from the others. Some chickens just grow more awkwardly than others, but definitely keep an eye on it.

Is it acting normal?

It’s a frizzled polish yes! It acts a bit different I’d say. Not as confident, stands in one spot more often. Sits more often too. But eats, drinks, poos normally.

A frizzle mixed with a frizzle can cause problems in some chicks. The same frizzle gene mixed together, even if the chickens are not related, can result in odd feathering and different health problems.

"If you breed frizzle chickens together, the offspring are called frazzle chickens. They are extra curly but their feathers are very brittle. They can be prone to feather breakage and baldness. Frazzle chickens are also commonly born with heart problems and live shorter lives."
