What’s wrong with my girls??!!

We have put diatomaceous earth in the coop and then everywhere that they play
Lay to Dust themselves. And We have also used some spray and some dust that we’ve gotten at the garden/farm store

DE is not very effective and not great for chicken's sensitive respiratory systems. Try to check out that link I included earlier. The Chicken Chick works very closely with a vet and is about the most well-researched source of information for the backyard flock out there.

It looks like probably they are eating each other's feathers. Most probably the hens with feathers are the aggressors. Aggressor can be only one hen, or more. This happens when chickens are in crowded space, or missing vitamins. I had same situation and saved it with lots of grass, letting them free range and most important : added a lot black sunflower seeds in their diet.

DE doesn't do crap. Treat them again with permethrin.

thats strange. I never see any of that And with me working remotely right now they get out a lot!

They look like my chickens did at that age. They all had bald patches on their backs. I was worried about mites and lice too, but I never saw any. Finally I realized that they were all pulling each other's feathers out. I guess it was because they were molting for the first time any they didn't know what pin feathers were. I put some pine tar on the bald areas, and all the feathers grew back. I've never had an issue like that again.

Wow. That’s interesting. We haven’t seen mites or live either. We’re going to look with a magnifying glass today one last time. Then we may try the pine tar. Ty!!!
