What’s wrong with my hen?

I have a 4 year old hen, whom today seemed lethargic and tired. I’ve been gone for the last few days, and only have been home since this morning.

I isolated her and gave her a “911 Recover” water vitamin, and some scrambled egg, because she wasn’t interested in mealworms or food.

I’m not sure what’s wrong with her… her crop was empty this morning, and she ate most of the eggs. She’s still resting and I think even did a small dust bath earlier.

I checked her for lice (because it’s caused this reaction in her before) but she had almost none. She was panting a lot as well but seems okay when she’s sitting. I’m going to check her poos soon, to find out more, but any ideas???

Hi! Can you dose her with calcium citrate? Also, if you have aqua mox, I would also dose her with that. The labored breathing could be a sign of infection.

What breed and have you checked her abdomen for any swelling?

Hi there, I’d have to look those up, I don’t know them off the top of my head. Also crazy turn of events, she’s actually energetic…? she was trying to escape this afternoon, and was jumping onto the roosting bar. Her poops looked good as well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chicken do this kind of a turn around. we’re about to go do our coop cleaning so if she seems up for it I’m gonna let her out for a little bit before dark. But ya I’m honestly so happy.

That's excellent news! @Chick3nLover keep an eye on her. Chickens are prey animals and hide sickness really well. However she could have been constipated. I've seen that as well on here.
